St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church of Rochester, NY is the first Coptic Orthodox church established in Rochester, NY and is also the first Coptic Orthodox church in Western NY. It is located at 530 Lehigh Station Rd in West Henrietta, NY, a suburb of Rochester, NY.
The Coptic community has been present in Rochester since the late 1960's and prayed in existing churches from other denominations until 1987 when construction on the current church began. The cornerstone ceremony was headed by H.G. Bishop Roweis in 1988. The inaugural Liturgy was prayed on Christmas (January 6) in 1989.
H.H. Pope Shenouda, along with seven bishops, consecrated the Altar in the name of St. Mary and St. Mark in September of 1989.
The church was expanded in 2003 to include a larger nave and Sunday School rooms.
